In the year 2000, perfumery saw the growth of an alternative fringe that would soon be called the niche. It was the beginnings of Serge Lutens and also those of Frédéric Malle.
A former appraiser at Givaudan, the founder of Frederic Malle Promise Eau de Parfum wanted to bring perfumers out of the shadows and give them back a freedom of expression that has become rare.
Followed by creators like Jean-Claude Ellena, Maurice Roucel, Olivia Giacobetti, or even Edouard Fléchier, he brought to life, as a well-inspired artistic director, some of the most creative perfumes of this beginning of the century.
Acquired in 2015 by the American group Estee Lauder , it has retained the management of its brand and today continues to develop perfumes with the recipe that has made it successful: carte blanche given to the perfumer, no price limit for formulas, and the name of the perfumer written on each bottle.
